When religious beliefs encounter technical rationality, the result of their struggle is not only the death of both religions, but also the crisis of the values of people under two faiths. The “American Trilogy” (“American Pastoral”, “I Marry Communists,” “Pollution of Human Nature”) completed by the contemporary Jewish writer Philip Rose at the turn of the century reflects the People’s crisis of values, most vividly demonstrated the people’s ethical crisis. When the old value system was hit and the new value system was not yet formed, people were insane and helpless. They showed incompetence and incompetence like the “Black Iron and the Five Dynasties”.
