1914年战争期间,我曾走进意大利北部的一家文具店。货架空荡荡的,让人感到凄凉。我在上面发现了一本书,约有几百页,那是一批自称为未来主义者的意大利青年艺术家的宣言。在神学用语中,未来主义者的意思是相信《启示录》[Apocalypse]的预言将会实现的人。这些意大利艺术家对神学几乎一窍不通,但是从他们的表现来看仿佛他们本身就是启示录中的骑士[Apocalyptic Riders]。他们要求用一颗原子弹——用我们这一代的语言来说——摧毁博物馆和往昔的遗产。请听一听他们的呐喊:
During the 1914 war, I went to a stationery store in northern Italy. Empty shelves, people feel bleak. I found a book there, about a few hundred pages, that is the declaration of a group of young Italian artists who claim to be futurists. In theological terms, the futurist means the person who believes the prophecy of Apocalypse will be fulfilled. These Italian artists are almost ignorant of theology, but from their point of view they seem to themselves be Apocalyptic Riders. They demanded that an atomic bomb - in the language of our generation - be used to destroy the museum and the legacy of the past. Please listen to their cry:
