China’s per capita share of water resources is 2300m2, accounting for only 1/4 of the world average, making it one of 13 water-scarce countries in the world. According to statistics, there are more than 400 water shortages in 668 large and medium-sized cities across the country, and human factors such as water pollution further aggravate the situation of water shortage. Every year, a large amount of industrial wastewater and urban sewage are discharged into rivers and channels 64% of the urban river water was moderately or heavily polluted. The scarcity of water resources and the deteriorating water environment pose challenges to water treatment and related industries.
