全面推进素质教育,培养适应21世纪现代化建设需要的高素质人才,是时代发展的必然要求。素质教育的目的就在于面向全体学生,使全民族素质得到提高,促进他们成长为当今和未来世界活跃而又负责的公民。地理学科担负着实施素质教育的重任,教师则是实施素质教育的关键所在,而课堂教学是实现素质教育的重要途径与手段。1.地理教学与文化素养的培养在地理教学中,加强思想品德教育尤其是爱国意识的倍养是素质教育的重中之重,同时,爱国意识也是公民文化素养的重要内容。地理教学在讲述地理知识的同时,要结合爱国主义教育、保护环境等观念教育,特别要渗透国情教育因素,使学生科学地认识国情,增强自尊心和自信心。这些思想观念有机地体现在地理教学之中,从而起到潜移默化作用。地理课堂教学在进行爱国主义教育和国情教育方面,较其他学科更具有独特的优势。例如,我国用
