Objective To investigate the changes of serum levels of CRP and BNP in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) and its clinical significance. Methods Sixty-eight patients with AF were selected as the normal control group, and 30 healthy controls were selected as the AF group. Serum CRP and BNP levels were measured and compared with the normal control group. Results The levels of BNP and CRP in AF group were significantly higher than those in normal control group (P <0.05). Atrial fibrillation patients with serum BNP, CRP levels increased with the grading of cardiac function, the concentration continued to rise. The levels of serum BNP and CRP in different heart function grading were significantly different between groups (P <0.05). Conclusions The levels of BNP and CRP can be used as predictors of the severity of atrial fibrillation in patients with atrial fibrillation, which is of great significance in judging the prognosis of atrial fibrillation.
