(一) 中国传统绘画的根是线描,以一画之线来状物写形。由于线描形式的单纯性与抽象性,以及中国古代哲学思辩的强大惯性,加之书法与绘画的相互渗透,而形成了中国画的特有的程式感很强的线描艺术形式。这种线描形式,既有摹写客体的功能,又有极为便利、自由发挥的抽象潜能,还有助于画家达到一种自由自在,我自为我的境地。 明代陈老莲《水浒叶子》所绘水浒人物生动有趣而形神兼得,线描程式驾驭自如。陈老莲笔下的线条回旋连绵,疏密有致,精美飘逸,是中国传统线描作品的高品位之作。 据史料记载,南宗时代京嵩和龚开也作过水浒人物插图,可惜已经失传。《水浒叶子》中的人物塑造尊从了中国古代人物画的模式,从脸部刻划、眉眼描写,衣纹的表现上处处能看到前期人物画家顾恺之、阎立本、吴道之的程式规范。同时陈老莲根据自己的生活经历,根据《水浒叶子》的文学形象,在水浒好汉的形象塑造上,抓取了他们的各自独特的形体、气质、风韵,在神态、动态各方面画出了自己的感悟和体验。刻画历史人物,有它的方便处也有它的困难处,画家只有通过较长期的广泛而深入的研究体会,心仪其人、凝而成像,所谓得之于心,
