The former residence of poet Sheng Dufu in Chengdu was historically called “the Ministry of Agriculture Caotang” or “the Caochangdi” and was renamed as “the prefectural office” in the Qing Dynasty. The “National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit” promulgated by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China was named “Du Fu Thatched Cottage.” It is located in the western suburbs of Chengdu Huanhuaxi River. In the same area, there was once a magnificent and fragrant Buddhist jungle in history, which was called Kotang Temple or Fu’an Temple. Du Fu Thatched Cottage and Cottage What is the relationship? Has always been said that all weaving. Some people say that the name of the temple due to the temple, but also some people remember Du Fu from Chengdu east, the old residence of its cottage by Cui Ning Jiedushi transformed into a villa for his wife ren residence. Later, Ren Chongshen Buddha, pre-eminent person “homestead for the temple” to show devout, so there are cottage. Arguments are far apart and hard to decide. I would like to take a glimpse into the history of Du Fu Thatched Cottage dedicated to academic colleagues. According to Yu Yu, Caotang Temple and Du Fu Thatched Cottage are two gardens with different functions. The former is the Pure Land of Buddhism. The latter is a famous temple. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, there was an additional temple for administrative division of monks, but it is not a Buddhist temple. Du Fu’s past residences all over the country call cottages, such as the “Zi State Cottage” of Santai and the “Xisha Cottage” of Fengjie County. All these prove that the names of the cottages and the cottage temples are purely coincidental, and there is no trace of succession or name at all Learn from
