U.S.: Adjustment of economic structure promotes “rejuvenation of rust belts” in old industrial areas In the 1990s, the old industrial areas in the central and western United States, known as “rust belts”, quickly re-emerged after a long period of economic decline. “Rejuvenation of rust belts” has become an economic phenomenon studied and promoted by the U.S. economic community since the 1990s. The so-called “rust belt” does not actually have a specific geographical location. Usually refers to several states in the Midwestern United States. Large industrial cities such as Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Chicago are all located in this area.
