The Giotto spacecraft scheduled to be launched in June 1985 is the first ESA spacecraft to be applied and will meet with the famous comet Halley on March 13-14, 1986 And it conducted on-site scientific investigation. During the rendezvous, the spacecraft was about one astronomical unit (150 million kilometers) from Earth. This article describes the system design features and important design data of Giotto spacecraft.
