The third teaching material seminar hosted by the Comprehensive College English Textbook Review Group was held in Guiyang from August 10 to 14, 1988. At the meeting, 76 representatives from more than 50 colleges and universities across the country attended the meeting. Comrade Yang Xun, Director of the Department of Foreign Languages at the Higher Education Department of the Education Commission, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech. This Guiyang conference was not the same as the previous two textbook workshops (Lanzhou in 1986 and Chengdu in 1987).
