将麻疯树栽培品种FD-8号种子分为≥0.80 g/粒、0.70~0.79 g/粒、0.60~0.69 g/粒及<0.60 g/粒共4个等级,研究不同质量等级种子的性状、萌发能力及苗木生长差异。结果表明,随种子质量的增加,种子及其组成部分的质量、尺寸及出仁率不同程度增加,种子发芽率、种子出苗率、苗木生长量及苗木质量也随之增加,但劣质种仁比率、种仁与种子体积的比值及萌发后种仁腐烂率明显下降;较大质量种子幼苗成活率明显小于质量较小种子;同一等级种子的萌发进程在不同气温条件下也有差异;<0.60 g/粒的种子正常发芽率仅为10%,出苗率不足10%,不宜作为播种使用。
