Transfection of primary human neutrophils is important because it enables the study of the pathways in the human inflammatory response that was previously difficult to achieve due to the difficulty of culturing neutrophils . Through this study, the authors established the optimal electroporation conditions for neutrophil transfection in terms of cell viability and siRNA delivery. Using these conditions, this technique can be further applied to other difficult-to-transfect primary cells, including stem cells. It is foreseeable that this area will flourish in the near future.
