Interest in the study of American writer Toni Morrison has been very much studied by both domestic and foreign scholars. Based on the related research results, this thesis tries to probe into the affective theme of “Jiao Nu” and the relationship between the theme and historic narrative and lyric performance. This essay argues that the novel not only explores the individual history of the characters in the novel, but also discusses the history of racial and group allegory. The writing and reading of the novel also reveal the process of compromise with the past traumatic experience. This thesis also discusses the traumatic theme (content) and “poem-painting text” (form) of the novel by combining the Chinese classical literature. The thesis further proposes that the author fully uses the poetic and the poetic text to fully write / Traumatic experience and emotion in historical environment. In carrying out such an analysis, the dissertation draws a cautious reference from Western psychoanalysis theory in order to theoretically better understand a unique emotional experience.
