The concept of “art and craft” adheres to the principle of “historicism” and “realism of life”, and advocates some simple spirit that art design practice including wallpaper should be concentrated in the Middle Ages In line, we should embody the true element of “people” in the works as much as possible, rather than “decorate for decoration”. This notion was also followed by other notable designers such as Owen Jones (1809-1874), painter Richard Redgrave (1804-1888), and public servant Henry Cole (1808-1882) Identity, value and advocate, these characters together contributed to the development of the British Wallpaper “design reform movement ” during this period.
