A series of modern editions of “Shakespearean drama” produced by the BBC are based on four Shakespearean classics. Among them, the modern version of “Macbeth” highlights the natural phobia and species discrimination that concern post-anthropologists in the Shakespearean plays of 1606, as well as the class discrimination, homophobia and alien phobia that humanist scholars are concerned about . This article attempts to respond to the modern version of Macbeth from an ecocritical point of view and comment on the content related to phobia and species discrimination. Therefore, this paper proposes that the play can be read in the current ecocriticism and animal studies.
