２００２年是我们党和国家历史上具有重要意义的一年，也是我们在严峻的国际形势下把改革开放和现代化建设继续推向前进的重要一年。今年我们将召开十六大，这是我们党在新世纪召开的第一次全国代表大会，也是我国进入全面建设小康社会、加快推进社会主义现代化的新的历史发展
The year 2002 marked an important year in the history of our party and our country and an important year for us to continue pushing forward reform, opening up and modernization in the severe international situation. This year we will hold the 16th CPC National Congress. This is the first national congress that our party convened in the new century. It is also the new historical development for our country to enter a well-off society in an all-round way and accelerate the socialist modernization.
