英语中“穿”与“戴”的表达形式非常讲究,有些表示动作,有些则强调状态。中学英语教材,就“穿”与“戴”的表达形式加以归纳。
一、表示“穿戴”的状态
1、(be)in+颜色+(衣服):可以作表语或后置定语。
The middle-aged woman looks very young for her age when she is in red.
这个中年妇女穿上红衣服看起来很年轻。
2、have on…或have…on:不可用于进行时态,但在意义上相当于be wearing。
The girls have on/wear skirts of different colors in summer.
女孩子们在夏天穿着五颜六色的裙子。
3、with+眼镜/手套
The old man is reading newspapers with glasses in the courtyard.
老人正戴着眼镜在院子里读报纸。
4、wear:指穿着衣服,戴着手套、首饰、徽章、花儿、眼镜、手表等,常用来指习惯性、经常性的穿着。
Why don’t you just wear a flower?
你为什么不戴花儿呢?
The professor was short and wore a pair of thick glasses.
教授个子很矮,戴了一副深度近视眼镜。
Boy students are not allowed to wear long hair in middle schools.
男学生不许在中学里留长发。
The lady was wearing a gold necklace at the ball.
舞会上,这位女士带了一条金项链。
5、with…on(with nothing on):该词组常用作定语,表示“穿(戴)……的……”。
Do you know the boy with a big hat on over there?
你认识那边那个戴大帽子的男孩吗?
6、be wearing:指一定时间、地点的穿戴状态。
Mike is wearing an overcoat today.
迈克今天穿了一件大衣。
The old man wearing a white shirt is his grandfather.
穿白色衬衣的那位老者是他爷爷。
7、dress:表示状态,指某一次的穿着。
We dressed in a hurry and went straight to the hospital.
我们急忙穿上衣服,直奔医院。
8、be(well)dressed in+颜色+(衣服):意思是“穿着……衣服”。相关的词组还有:(be)dressed in rags=(be)in rags穿得破破烂烂。
He was dressed in a dark suit at the meeting.
他在会议上穿着一套深色的西装。
A tall man in rags came up to me and asked me for some money.
一名穿着破烂衣服的高个男子走上前来向我要钱。
9、Be well/poorly/badly/neatly dressed=be dressed well/poorly/badly/neatly:穿着(不)讲究/好/整洁
Compared with Marx, Engels was always dressed well and neatly.
与马克思相比,恩格斯总是穿戴整齐。
二、表示“穿戴”的动作
1、几个词组:①dress sb./oneself(in):给某人/自己穿衣。②dress up:打扮起来;化装起来;穿上盛装,后常跟介词in,as,for。③dress up sb./dress sb.up:给某人打扮,给某人化装。
On Sunday evening he dressed himself in a beautiful shirt.
星期天晚上,他穿着一件漂亮衬衫。
When I got home, my mother was dressing my little sister.
我到家时妈妈正在给妹妹穿衣服。
Mr Green sometimes dressed up in a red coat.
格林先生有时穿一件红色大衣。
2、dress quickly:尽快穿衣服
Get up and dress quickly.
快起床穿衣服。
3、get dressed:穿衣服
—Get dressed quickly, Kate. Breakfast is ready.
赶快穿好衣服,凯特,早饭准备好了。
—What should I wear today, Mum?
我今天穿什么,妈妈?
4、dress(well/badly):意思是“穿”;反义词是undress,意思是“脱”。
He dressed well/badly:他穿得很得体/糟糕。
5、try on sth.:试穿……;试戴……
Try on the hat to see if it fits you.
戴上这顶帽子试试,看是否合适你。
6、Fit sth.on sb.:给某人试穿
The man fit the new clothes/shoes on him.
这个男人试穿新衣服/鞋子。
Please fit the dress made yesterday on the baby!
请给婴儿试一下昨天刚做的新衣服。
7、put on:可以指穿上衣服,戴上眼镜,另有“上演”之意,其反义词是take off。
He put on his hat and left his house hurriedly without saying a word.
他戴上帽子,没说一个字就匆忙地离开了房子。
He put on his raincoat and soon disappeared in the rain.
他穿上雨衣,不久就消失在雨中。
8、pull on:随便地或匆忙地(用拉的方式)穿/戴上,后面可以跟衣、袜、鞋、手套等名词;其反义词是pull off。
She slowly and carefully pulled on her boots.
她慢慢地,小心地穿上靴子。
9、throw on:匆匆穿上;throw off:匆匆脱掉
My father threw on his coat and went to work.
爸爸匆匆穿上大衣上班去了。
He threw off his clothes and jumped into the river.
他匆匆脱掉衣服就跳进了河里。
