Introduced how seven schools in England improved the quality of science education by focusing on the professional development of the laboratory technicians. In September 2013, in order to enhance the technical service level of high school laboratory technicians, the Gatsby Charity Foundation sponsored the National Science Learning Center of the United Kingdom to conduct a project to enable high school experimenters and experienced senior laboratory technicians to collaborate on design and practice. The project provided £2,000 for each school and the use of funds was mainly supervised by an outside school tutor. The project’s effectiveness can be directly reflected in the classroom, such as teachers are more confident, students get more diverse and higher-quality practical experience. The project shows that if the school wants to improve the quality of scientific education, a small investment in the professional development of the laboratory technician can achieve very significant results.
