The first “Chinese translator’s dictionary” in China was published by China Foreign Translation and Publishing Corporation in 1988. “Dictionary” where 780 pages, a total of translators included about 1100 people, from the Eastern Han Dynasty, until now, points ancient and modern (including contemporary) two parts. Focus on the “May Fourth” so far modern translator, accounting for more than three quarters of the total quota. The ancient part also included over 80 foreign monks and Western missionaries who contributed to the prosperity of China’s scientific and cultural undertakings, accounting for about four-tenths of the ancient part. It can be seen that the editor intends to be ancient and thick this year, and truthfully reflect the actual situation of the development of translation in our country. The glossary of the dictionary includes translators ’resumes, outstanding deeds, translation activities and major translations. Under certain items, it also supplements translators’ translation theories, opinions and comments on their translation features, which are informative and interesting abundant. However, I also found some shortcomings when I read through it. I would like to comment a little bit here to provide some superficial opinions for compiling the translator’s dictionary in our country.
