今天来看方东美先生的思想,大概会有两种印象,一是不合时宜,一是如此前卫。不合时宜在于方东美之于中国传统文化,尤其是儒家思想的观点与新儒家主流派不同轨,如此前卫则在于方东美对于中国文化的理解,尤其是哲学史的梳理与今日学界时髦的复归原典的路子颇多合辙。前者的不合时宜可以标明两点,一是方东美的时代背景,或者说理论动因;二是方东美与其他新儒家观点的不同处。 If we look at the thoughts of Mr. Fang Dongmei today, there will probably be two kinds of impressions. The anachronism of the former can be marked with two points. The first is the background or the theoretical motivation of Fang Dongmei. The other is the difference between Fang Dongmei and other neo-Confucianists.
