The use of left ventricular assistants (LVADs) has become a routine method of facilitating the transition from heart failure patients to heart transplant recipients. As thrombosis is one of its major complications, there is currently no predictive measure to assess the risk of thrombosis in individuals. This study was designed to evaluate the clinical significance of Doppler micro-thrombus signal (MES) in patients with LVAD. Methods Six LVAD patients were monitored for transcranial Doppler sonography of MES within 30 days after surgery. After finding the middle cerebral artery (MCA), the 2 MH_2 probe was attached to the temporal bone with an elastic bandage,
