This is because petroleum wax can migrate to the surface of rubber to form a wax film, which acts as a barrier to ozone and delays the oxidation of rubber. China began research on rubber protective wax from the early 1980s. In the early 1990s, with the large-scale introduction of radial tire production lines, the application of rubber protective wax began to gradually expand. At present, there are 363 tire manufacturing enterprises in China. According to the incomplete statistics of the Tire Branch of the China Rubber Industry Association, the production of radial tires in the country has reached 1.85 million in 1998, and nearly 3000 tons of rubber protective wax was used in the year 2000.
