Graham Greene is a famous British contemporary writer. His novel “The Silent Americans” was welcomed by Britain because of the background of the Cold War. The United States condemned the pursuit of the Soviet Union and China. Therefore, Green was regarded as anti-imperialist and anti-colonial Improve the writer. In this context, very few people pay attention to the colonialist consciousness embedded in their works. Based on the relevant theories of post-colonialism, this article explains Green’s sense of superiority in race and lamenting the declining decline of the British Empire and expounds its tendency toward colonialism. Criticism of the various crimes of colonialism and imperialism exposes the inevitable trend of declining colonialism and imperialism and embodies Green’s anti-colonialism. This article reveals the author’s political unconsciousness by revealing the conflicting feelings between author’s colonialism and anti-colonialism.
