On October 5, 2016, the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway (“Aji Railway”), built by Chinese enterprises and connecting the capitals of Ethiopia and Djibouti, was officially opened to traffic. The project is another transnational railway that China built in Africa after the Tanzan Railway and is known as the “Tanzan Railway in the new period.” The Asia-Kyrgyzstan Railway is the first electrified railway in Africa, all made up of Chinese standards and the construction of China’s equipment.
