水利部于1996年12月26日～28日在北京召开了全国沙棘工作会议.辽宁、陕西、山西、河北、内蒙古、甘肃等14个省、市、自治区,以及水利部、农业部、卫生部、中科院等部门和新闻单位的近90名代表参加了会议.会议的主要任务是落实钮茂生部长《关于我国发展沙棘事业的战略设想》的批示,总结、交流“八五”经验,研究、制定“九五”规划,同时表彰“八五”期间在沙棘事业中做出突出贡献的27个先进集体和76名先进工作者.
The Ministry of Water Resources held a national seabuckthorn working conference in Beijing from December 26 to December 28, 1996.
