Recently, the British “New Scientist” reported that Spanish builders replaced the reinforced concrete with lightweight carbon fiber composites and succeeded in carrying the girders on a bridge recently completed. The material cost is higher, but its weight is only 15% of the weight of reinforced concrete. The installation of a bridge with this material in only 3 days by a light crane is completed, greatly reducing the construction period. The material also has a corrosion-resistant effect. Construction experts pointed out that the wall of the Pentagon in the U.S. hit by September 11 had been reinforced with carbon fiber composite materials, otherwise it would have been destroyed like the World Trade Center. This time, it survived and reduced the number of personnel and Economic losses.
