Neglecting the study of writers is one of the reasons for the marginalization of literature. Based on interviews with Richard Bowers and other ten American contemporary writers, this dissertation summarizes and analyzes in depth the growth experiences, educational background and writing of contemporary American writers on the basis of anthropological fieldwork and oral history research methods. Environment and so on. Most of the American writers had the opportunity to receive writing instruction in the early stages and had rich life experiences. Most of the young writers are graduates of science classes and majoring in literary creation. Most famous writers are mostly faculty members in universities. The writing environment is convenient and open, and opportunities for exchange with peers are numerous. The research on the writing status of American writers can open up the diaphragm of creative practice and theoretical research and set up a bridge between writers’ writing and literary studies. This helps writers of literature, literary creators and literary researchers pay attention to the generation and significance of literature.
