In this study, serum lipid peroxides (LPO), erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) were measured in 86 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) Serum LPO in diabetic patients was significantly higher than that in healthy people, but SOD and GSH-PX in erythrocytes were significantly lower than those in healthy people. Compared with diabetic patients without vascular complications, LPO increased more significantly and SOD decreased more significantly. In addition, there was a positive correlation between blood glucose and LPO in diabetic patients and a negative correlation between LPO and SOD. Tip NIDDM patients with the formation and elimination of free radicals imbalance between the phenomenon.
