Solid state magic-angle-spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MAS-NMR) has been used to probe the signal of ~(27)Al in polyoxyaluminum pillared montmorillonite. The experimental results show that the polyhydroxy polymers are indeed the pillaring species.
