At present, most of the 220kV and below transmission line iron towers in China use a stepped raft foundation. This type of foundation has a large amount of excavation, a large amount of concrete pouring, a slow construction speed, and destroys the strength of the surrounding undisturbed soil. After researching and comparing with the transmission line designers, it is believed that the foundation of bored piles should be used for the foundations of 220kV and below transmission line iron towers (this has been applied in EHV transmission lines and cross-river towers). After calculation, the perfusion volume of bored pile foundation is only 1/3 of the stepped foundation. For this reason, we decided to conduct actual construction tests.
