Reported a Nd: YAG laser pumped by a 15 W continuous laser diode with an output power of 4.5 W and an incline efficiency of 44% at free running. The repetition rate of acousto-optic Q modulation was varied from 3 to 65 kHz. At 10 k Hz, the peak power reaches 28 kW and the pulse width is 8 ns. Several important factors in the design of acousto-optic Q-switched high repetition rate lasers for laser diode pumping are also analyzed. The main reason for the difference between the single pulse energy and the slope efficiency at different frequencies is theoretically analyzed
