OBJECTIVE: To investigate the changes of blood pressure, heart rate and global regulatory function in blocking lymphatic drainage of the neck. Methods: The Wistar rats were divided into two groups: the control group (n = 10) undergoing sham operation; the lymphatic drainage block group (n = 10) ligating the superficial and deep cervical lymphatic vessels and removing the lymph nodes to cause lymphatic edema. Both groups were on the 7th day postoperative orthostatic tilt stress test and inverted position tilt stress test, continuous measurement of arterial blood pressure, heart rate, Ⅱ ECG, the top of the EEG and its energy curve, and the overall baroreceptor Reflection sensitivity (BS). Results: In the control group, the orthostatic blood pressure decreased immediately and returned to normal immediately. The blood pressure of the contralateral initial artery was increased, but then rapidly dropped back. When blocking both common carotid arteries, arterial blood pressure increased, EEG unchanged. In the lymphatic drainage block group, the arterial blood pressure in the upright position and in the upright position continued to be significantly lower than the normal level, and the heart rhythm disorder and BS were decreased. After blocking the common carotid artery on both sides but lower arterial blood pressure, EEG flatten, EEG energy curve is almost reduced to zero. CONCLUSION: Disorders of cervical lymphatic drainage in rats can lead to the decrease of blood pressure, heart rate, EEG regulating function, decrease of sensitivity of baroreceptor and easy to produce orthostatic hypotension.
