Food is the main source of natural radium. Drinking water from surface water sources is secondary, and mineral water may be a significant contributor. In this paper, we measured the radium content and Ra / Ca value of a large number of human bone, placenta, fetus, blood, drinking water, mineral water and mixed diet in Germany and calculated the transfer factor from diet to these tissues. Human samples taken from several forensic colleges; mixed foods at Kiel University Hospital; water samples taken from general drinking faucets; and randomly purchased mineral water of different types and origins from local retailers.
