In this paper, we observed the effects of swimming exercise on the serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol/total cholesterol (HDL-C/TC) percentages in high-fat diet rats. Fifty-two male adult rats were divided into four groups: control group (high-fat diet), exercise group 1 (high-fat diet + forced swimming 0.5 hours/day), and exercise 2 group (high-fat diet + forced swimming 2 hours/day). And exercise 8 groups (high-fat feed + forced swimming 4 hours/day), 5 days per week for 3 weeks. The experimental high-fat diet formula was: basic feed 93%, coconut oil 5%, cholesterol 1.5% and bile salt 0.5%. The results showed that high saturated fat and high cholesterol diets caused elevated serum TC, and the percentages of HDL-C and HDL-C/TC decreased. Swimming exercise reduced body weight, lowered serum TC levels, and significantly increased HDL-C and HDL-C/TC percentage values (P<0.001). It shows that the increase of HDL-C is related to the extension of a certain exercise time. It can be seen that proper exercise can improve the dyslipidemia caused by high-fat diets.
