鱼塘泥有大量的鱼类粪便以及未被鱼类利用的肥料和残饵,含有丰富的氮、磷、钾和有机质。是一种很好的肥料。据江汉油田10个精养鱼塘塘泥取样分析,平均含氮0.8%、含磷0.26%、含钾1.7%、含有机质5.62%。据肥料对比试验,一般每立方米塘泥增产小麦20～30公斤,玉米14～20公斤,所以发展坑塘养鱼,不仅能增加渔业收入,还可为农业生产提供大量优质肥料。
