This article makes a more detailed analysis of the “double context” translating concept that was made by De Dexing in the translation practice for many years, and points out that there are two translations of “De intellectuals” and “Gulliver’s Travels” The reason why classic books attract much attention in the world lies in its successful practice of “dual context” translation. Translation is no longer a mere transliteration or traditional “letter, up, elegance,” but the culture, time and space of the author and translator should all be considered. Only in this way can the “context” be demonstrated, the translation can cross ethnic, literary and cultural barriers, and Chinese works have more opportunities to ascend the international arena. The essay also revisits the basic issues of the essence of translation, the function of translation, the role and obligations of translators, and expounds some enlightenments on the departure of Chinese culture and Chinese literature from the perspective of “dual contextualization”.
