中国文学史上短篇小说于魏晋南北朝兴起,至唐人“始有意为小说”[1],到宋代,白话短篇小说兴起,《京本通俗小说》就是白话短篇小说的代表。小说中运用诗歌是自古以来的传统,短篇白话小说在此运用诗歌是延续传统的表现,其改变有两个方面,一是宋词的加入,这是词的特性与词在宋代繁荣的结果;二是诗词的世俗化,明了化,这是受世俗的影响,为了百姓更加的喜闻乐见。可以说,宋代白话小说与诗词既相结合又相妥协。如果说唐传奇中小说与诗歌是相映生辉,那么在宋代短篇小说中诗词与小说就是相映成趣。而这趣又多指世俗之趣,与当时的风情习气息息相关。

One is the addition of the Ci, which is the result of the characteristics of the Ci and the prosperity of Ci in Song Dynasty. Is the secularization of poetry, Minghua, which is affected by the secular influence, for the people more loved. It can be said that both the vernacular novels of Song Dynasty and poetry both combine and compromise. If the novels of Tang Dynasty and poetry are the same, then the poems and novels of short stories in the Song Dynasty are matched by each other. This fun and more refers to the secular interest, and the customs of the time closely linked.
