The 20th century just passed is an important period for the transformation of traditional Chinese painting. Looking at the history of Chinese and Western art, Chinese paintings and western paintings have not experienced the unprecedented and violent collision of thousands of years as they did in the early 2000s. Chinese painting has never had a direct dialogue with Western painting in such a weak situation. However, “Chinese painting” now can not say whether the name is reasonable or not, but in such circumstances with the “mission” was born, Chinese painting has gone through a long period of more than one hundred years of “modernization” . Both the reformist, the harmonious school, and the conservatives have made contributions to the development of Chinese painting. They all hope that Chinese painting can change the situation in the disadvantaged and all hope that Chinese painting will become modern or contemporary.
