提起粮食作物人们自然想到小麦、稻米、谷子、糜子、玉米、高梁……等这些属于禾本科的植物。但是世界上还有一种属于藜科植物的粮食作物——藜米(昆诺阿藜),尚不被我国人所熟悉。 这种藜米,英文名叫Quinoa,拉丁学名是Cheno-podium quinoa,生长在南美洲的安第斯山,南纬5°—20°,海拔3400—4200米的高原地带,主要在秘鲁和玻利维亚种植,智利和厄瓜多尔也有零星栽培。它的种子可以食用,是当地重要的粮食来源。
