Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) phenomenon refers to the epithelial cells through a specific program to obtain the transformation of the stromal cell phenotype. EMT plays an important role in embryogenesis, organ fibrosis and tumor metastasis, and is present in the metastasis of primary hepatocellular carcinoma. The article highlights the components of the Notch pathway, the Wnt (wingless-type) / beta catenin pathway, the transforming growth factor beta / Smad pathway and the Hedgehog pathway, and the transcription factors Snail, Twist, ZEB-1 and the homeobox gene B7 In the primary hepatocellular carcinoma EMT plays an important regulatory role. The study of the molecular mechanism of EMT is a promising subject that may provide a new target for the treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma.
