The anthropologist Professor Wensi Li’s research combines local history with global political and economic processes. This approach, combined with recent experience and far-experience put forward by Geertz, constitutes a methodological revolution in anthropology in the 1980s: from focusing on local knowledge and social processes or from focusing on the global political and economic context and research From the knowledge background, to combine the local and global, with the others and themselves. Since then, anthropology has begun to establish its disciplinary methodology: the interweaving of internal and external perspectives. This article introduces the author’s application of the thought and research of Vestman in teaching and research, combs the history of disciplines intertwined inside and outside perspective, and establishes the significance of VW thought to anthropology.
