The minimum masking conditions proposed by Hannan and Gillitzer for earlier parabolic reflectors do not account for the significant shadowing effect of the footing obstructions that support the feed and the subreflector. For this reason, this paper discusses the numerical integration method to determine the minimum shadowing conditions of the composite shadowing of the sub-reflector and its legs. Two types of minimum shadowing conditions are found: the first, based on sidelobe levels - is important for radio astronomy (polarization measurements); the second, related to the efficiency of the facia (directionality) - is important for spectroscopy and telecommunications. A comparison of these two types of minimum masking conditions shows that there is little difference between them.
