清懿堂坐落在安徽省歙县棠樾村西端,是我国古代惟一的女祠堂。祠堂作为封建宗法制度下同族人祭奉祖先的房屋,一向为男人的圣殿,他们在这里决议族中大事、惩罚违背族规者和供奉祖宗牌位祭祀。在男尊女卑的时代,女性均与祠堂无缘,除非因触犯族规在这儿接受惩罚。如同名字不能忝列宗谱一样,女性祖先在祠堂里没有牌位,甚至连祭祀活动时,她们连祠堂的大门都不能进入。 Qingyi Church is located in the western tip of Tongli Village, Juxian County, Anhui Province, the only female ancestral temple in ancient China.
