The use of hematoporphyrin plus laser is a promising new method for the diagnosis and treatment of tumors. The application of pulsed laser can cause or promote the expansion of tumor is a problem that people, especially clinicians, are quite concerned about. There is not much research work on this system. We investigated the effect of hematoporphyrin-laser on metastasis of transplantable mouse pre-gastric cancer. Eighty-five inbred 615 mice were selected and divided into dye laser group (pulse laser), holmium laser group (continuous laser) and control group. Five days after the right flank was inoculated subcutaneously into the mouse forefoot gastric cancer in the three groups of animals, the animals in the treatment group were injected intraperitoneally with a hematoporphyrin derivative (HpD) produced by the Beijing Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry at a dose of 5 mg/kg body weight. On the 7th day, the tumors of the treated animals were irradiated with internal light pump dye lasers (pulsed lasers) and HeNe lasers (continuous lasers), respectively.
