福建省泉州市有一个建筑达一千一百年左右的古蹟——开元寺,寺的兩旁有兩座高达十丈的石塔——鎮国塔、仁寿塔(俗名为东西塔),塔的馳名是有着相当悠久的历史。該寺解放后在当地党政部門重視下,曾进行了重新修葺,故于今仍然保持着原有的壯丽雄偉的胜格。寺內有一家制药厂,名秋水葯厂。該厂創設于明朝万历已丑年,迄今有近四百年的历史。創設人秋水和尚,精通医学,善研药物。創制了二十余种特效葯品,至今都繼承下来。由于药品疗效,在羣众中取得了信仰,当时曾出现了一些神話的傳說来形容它。其中最著明的是“百草神粬”。其原始产地,功用与特点在謝观主編的中国医学大辞典二册1786頁及1840頁都曾介 In Quanzhou, Fujian Province, there is a monument about 1,100 years old, the Kaiyuan Temple.
