长江上游水源涵养林,水土保持林综合效益定位观测和计量研究专题,主要研究长江上游的岷江、嘉陵江,涪江、沱江、乌江流域的不同地文条件下的水源涵养林、水土保持林的树种选择及营造技术等,着重研究其水、土、气象等因子与植物间互相影响,相互制约及其变化的关系.通过实地观测研究,分析试验前后生态环境的变化规律,为正确配备防护林工程中的林种、树种选择,造林技术经营方式等提供依据,并预测、预估各类防护林的生态效益、经济效益和社会效益
