山西文学界大力扶持的新锐作家,大多出生于60年代中期到80年代初期,生于70年代的居多。有学者将他们归类为山西文学“族谱”上的“第五代”。总体上这一代人童年时代有计划经济的成长背景,青少年时期赶上改革开放,新旧时代交替的生活变化和观念冲击对他们有深刻影响。这批作家还有一个共性特点:他们当中除了少数人是来自于城镇外,大部分人都生于乡村并成长于乡村 Shanxi writers strongly support the cutting-edge writers, mostly born in the mid-60s to early 80s, was born in the 70’s majority.
