To investigate the role of prostaglandin (PG) in hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPPR), we injected transplanted PGE 1 and arachidonic acid (AA) into the vena cava of pigs simulating a 4000-meter plateau: PGE 1 was significantly reduced Pp, PVR, Psa and SVR of AA were increased; AA increased HPPR and decreased Psa and SVR. The above results suggest that PGE 1 has a marked antihypertensive effect on pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation in pigs. Vasodilatation of vascular endothelial cells (VDPG) may be synthesized in pig blood vessels by injection of AA, and vasoconstrictive vascular (VCPG) The balance between VCPG and VDPG in pulmonary vessels may be one of the reasons for the enhancement of HPPR.
