为了解决我厂大功率柴油机大型零件的加工,我厂于1970年从英国进口一台H50型(5m×15m)旧龙刨。该机系德国三十年代产品,1956年英国曾经改造为龙门铣,由于结构落后,加上其他原因,改造后的铣头未随机买来。由于龙刨效率较低,又不能镗铣,不能适应我厂大功率柴油机那种多机型、多功能的加工,尤其是新型柴油机高精度加工的需要。我们经过较长时期的酝酿,于1980年12月与北京第一机床厂协商,达成协议,由北京第一机床厂与我厂合作,将该龙门刨床改造成龙门铣床。根据分工,北京第一机床厂负责总体设计、镗铣头的设计与制造(包括7个铣镗头附件)、工作台导轨副加装静压装置的设计制造和总装调试,以及铣削时工作台减速箱的设计制造等。沪东造船厂负责非改造
