Uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) is a carrier protein that can regulate the transmembrane transport of protons in the mitochondrial inner membrane, which can disperse the proton electrochemical gradient and uncouple the oxidative respiration and ATP synthesis. UCP2 is closely related to energy expenditure and lipid metabolism, and may be involved in oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in the pathogenesis of alcoholic liver disease (ALD). To further explore the role of UCP2 in ALD for the prevention and treatment of ALD is of great significance.
